Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, is a singer-songwriter and Canadian American. Her albums span over 20 years. Her music is classified as folk-rock as well as alternative rock, but it has additional influence from hip music and jazz. Ani Difranco is acknowledged as a pioneer of feminist music. In 1990 she was one of the first to establish her own label independently. The parents of DiFranco, Elizabeth (Ross), a former student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dante Americo DiFranco met each other while they were both attending. Her mother is from Montreal as is her father, who is Italian descent. Ani DiFranco composed and performed 32 Flavors. The track is part of her album from 1995 Not a Pretty Girl, which was DiFranco's sixth studio release. The song was featured in the soundtrack of the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco apologized in 2013, following the revelation that it was revealed that she had scheduled a three-day conference on the Louisiana plantation. The workshop was cancelled, however many (including the author of this article) did not show any remorse. DiFranco released a new apology several days after. Although she's known as Little Peoplesinger, she has collaborated with a variety of musicians and artists from Pete Seeger through Chuck D until Prince. She is from New Orleans. Ani has the name Kristen Ford. At the age of 14, she began writing her own songs. They continued to be performed in bars and coffee shops in her teens. DiFranco was a graduate of The Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts high school in the year 16, and enrolled in classes at Buffalo State College.
